A straightedge is extremely useful for setting up machines such as planers and jointers. We offer two types, depending on your requirements and budget. Both are wide enough to stand on edge unsupported, so you have both hands free to make precise adjustments to your tools. Each also has a hanging hole for easy storage. Our anodized aluminum straightedges are 1-3/4" high and 7/16" wide, and will not rust. The reference edge is machined flat to within 0.003" over the entire length. They are available in three lengths, 24", 38" and 50". The 24" straightedge weighs 1 lb, the 38" weighs just under 2 lb, and the 50" version weighs 2.5 lb. Where extreme accuracy is needed, our solid steel bar has both edges precision ground flat to within 0.001" over the entire length. It is 24" long, 1/4" thick and 1-1/2" wide. At just over 2 lb, its weight ensures it will stay in place while you make any adjustments. Vacuum heat-treated to ensure that all residual stresses are removed and the straightedge remains true on both reference edges.
